You may soon be seeing more of Tulsa's favorite firefighter clown. A committee called The Friends of Huffy the Clown kicked off fundraising efforts Monday to build three life-sized bronze statues of Huffy.
The statues would show Huffy sitting on a bench. A plaque of fire safety tips would be included. Retired firefighter and sculptor Kelly Leggett says the statues are aimed at children. "If they see Huffy the Clown around in town hopefully that would uh get their interest raised so that when they do see him at school then they would be more inclined to listen to him if they'd just seen a statue of him."
The estimated cost of the three bronze statues is $100,000. You can donate at the Tulsa State Fair or through the Tulsa Firefighters Credit Union.
