OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is looking for recruits at the Oklahoma State Fair.
OHP has a booth with a 1937 Ford patrol car and a restored '37 patrol Indian motorcycle as it tries to get applications to its next trooper academy.
Statewide budget cuts meant the OHP didn't have a trooper academy the past two years, but the Legislature authorized two academies for the current fiscal year.
One is under way and the second begins May 31st. The deadline to apply is September 30th.
Requirements to be a trooper include being between the ages of 21 and 42, having an associate degree or a minimum of 62 college credits and being a US citizen. Applicants must meet physical agility and vision requirements and undergo other testing.
