One evacuee was reunited with his family Tuesday. He was rescued from New Orleans - by the Tulsa Humane Society and he is a bulldog.
News on 6 reporter Emory Bryan has the happy reunion.
He was just another of the animals lost during Hurricane Katrina, but this little bulldog's life took a fortunate turn when some rescuers from Tulsa found him - as they were leaving New Orleans. Teresa Myers with the Tulsa Humane Society: "We were literally driving out of the base and up walks this lovely little French bulldog and of course the van stops and everyone bails out to get the dog."
He's a French bulldog with a lazy eye and unusually large ears. He would never be best of show - but the folks at the Woodland Animal Hospital figured someone would be looking for him. They took photos of his unforgettable face and bingo. Linda Moore with the French Bulldog Club: "Sent those pictures to two French bulldog web sites and within two hours."
It turns out; Charles Chapman was scanning the Internet, looking for his dog, Pudgy. Three weeks after the hurricane and one week after Pudgy was rescued, he and Charles are back together.
Chapman was on vacation when the hurricane hit and had left his dog with a neighbor. Pudgy took off in the storm - and Charles has been looking for him ever since. Charles Chapman: "It's hard to get your hopes up when you're trying to find him, but I had some really diligent friends who just kept trying."
Chapman says Pudgy looks like he ate pretty well and Pudgy shows no sign of what he's been through. His owner doesn't know what he's got left in New Orleans, but he knows now - he didn't lose everything.
