NEW YORK (AP) _ Actor Christian Slater will avoid jail time by taking a plea deal after being charged with grabbing a woman's rear end in New York in May.

A spokesman for the Manhattan District Attorney's Office says all charges against the 36-year-old actor will be dropped if he stays out of trouble for the next six months.

Police say on May 31, Slater was arguing with a female friend at 2 a.m. and then walked over to another woman and grabbed her backside. The woman called police. And Slater was charged with forcible touching.

Outside the court Monday, Slater said he was ``thrilled that its over.''
