The Tulsa Humane Society is on its way to Louisiana hoping to rescue more pets left abandoned after Katrina.

This is their second trip to the storm ravaged area. We caught up with society members just before they headed out Wednesday night. They told the News on 6, high gas prices are making the trips more difficult, but every pet found makes the trip worth it.

Teresa Myers with the Tulsa Humane Society: It's very important because these people have lost everything and their pets mean a lot to them. Some of them couldn't get back in to get them so it may be the only thing they have left after the hurricane.”

Jim Norton Toyota donated a truck and a trailer to help offset the costs.

And if you'd like to help reunite more pets with their owners, you can make a donation to the Tulsa Humane Society at their office at 68th and Memorial.
