OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Oklahoma Congressman Dan Boren's been chosen to participate in a national leadership program for young public officials.
A new program at the Aspen-Rodel Fellowships in Public Leadership will honor leaders identified by the Institute as ``the true rising stars'' of American politics.
The Institute chose 24 fellows from federal, state, and local governments. They will discuss broad issues of democratic governance and effective public service.
The program is headed by former Oklahoma Congressman Mickey Edwards. Edwards says Boren, a 32-year-old freshman Democrat, has established a reputation for intelligence, thoughtfulness, and an ability to work effectively across party lines.
Edwards says Boren represents the next generation of America's political leaders.
