Tulsa Police have arrested an armed robbery suspect, accused of using his car as a weapon to trick his victim.
News on 6 reporter Jennifer Loren says the victim in this very unusual robbery is shaken, but recovering.
Here's what happened. Investigators say 39 year old Melvin Wilson bumped a woman's car in the 8700 block of South College. When she got out to check the damage, he assaulted her at knifepoint.
Tulsa Police Captain Tim Jones: “grabbed her around the throat and she's fighting him to get away. He pulled a knife on her; she managed to get her hand around the knife.â€
Police say Wilson grabbed the woman's purse and left her on the street with a cut on her neck. He was arrested a few miles away near 61st and Florence, after witnesses say he caused another traffic accident while running from Tulsa Police.
That accident sent two more people to the hospital. There's no word on their injuries.
Wilson was booked on charges of armed robbery, hit and run and eluding police.
Police say if your car is hit and you feel uncomfortable stay inside with the doors locked and windows up. Call police and tell the other driver they're on their way, information can be exchanged at that time.
