Tulsa's Gilcrease Museum unveiled an historic new addition Monday.

James Walker's painting, "The Battle of Chapultepec", comes to Tulsa from Washington DC. It hung in the Senate wing of the US Capitol from 1862 until 1982. The painting was then moved to the Marine Corps Museum at the Washington Navy Yard.

US Senator James Inhofe was at Monday's unveiling. He says it's an honor for such a treasure to be displayed in Tulsa. "So to have this to join the other collections I think is a tremendous boost for the city of Tulsa."

The painting is on extended loan. It will be at Gilcrease Museum for several years.
