Sand Springs resident Sergeant Joshua Merritt is serving in Iraq and Wednesday he got some bad news from home.

His 2005 Suzuki motorcycle was stolen from a storage unit.

News on 6 anchor Terry Hood says Joshua Merritt was home on leave just last month and his mother says he spent as much time as he could riding his motorcycle. When it was time to go back to Iraq, Joshua drove his bike into a storage facility on West 41st Street to await his return.

Monday, thieves broke in and stole it. Surveillance cameras caught a man breaking in and driving off on Joshua's pride and joy.

Sand Springs Assistant Police Chief Michael Carter: "What Kind of makes this heinous is that while he's off putting his life on the line to serve our country we've got some criminals taking his belongings."

Joshua’s mom Tommie Morgan: "my main thing is to catch the guys that stole the motorcycle, cause I don't think they should have the joy of enjoying the motorcycle, ya know.”

Sand Springs Police are looking for the suspects in these surveillance pictures. If you know anything about the burglary you are urged to call Sand Springs Police detectives at 246-2540.
