TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- The US Army Corps of Engineers has reopened a swim beach on Robert -S- Kerr Lake that closed earlier in the summer because of an algae bloom.

The Cowlington Point Recreation Area reopened this week after being closed since July 24th because of blue-green algae that can be toxic to the brain and liver of animals and humans.

Samples taken last week showed that the current levels of algae no longer posed a threat to swimmers and others. However, the corps plans to continue monitoring the lake.
