The summer break is almost over for teachers and students. Thousands of students across eastern Oklahoma are getting ready for school.
When the bell rings this year, there will be a new superintendent for Tulsa Public Schools. Dr. Michael Zolkoski says he's looking forward to the challenges of leading the state's largest school district.
But before students show up for class, he's focusing on teachers. "Help our teachers in the classroom. Give them the supplies they need, the multiple strategies they need to teach, and really, schools are about kids, and I want kids to have a great time coming to Tulsa schools."
Dr. Zolkoski replaces Dr. David Sawyer, who retired after serving for six years.
