WOODWARD, Okla. (AP) -- Woodward County authorities have stopped their search of a landfill for the remains of 6-year-old Logan Tucker, who has been missing since June 2002.
Authorities have searched the county landfill for four months for the body of Logan, whom they presume to be dead.
Woodward County Undersheriff Monty Clem says he thinks Logan's body is buried at the landfill, even if it wasn't found by searchers.
The search was ended Wednesday when authorities determined that all the trash dumped around the time of Logan's disappearance had been sifted through.
Clem says no more searches of the landfill for the body will be done unless an exact site can be determined of where a garbage truck unloaded the trash in which Logan's body was thought to be dumped.
Logan's mother, Katherine Rutan, has been charged with first-degree murder in Logan's case. Prosecutors plan to proceed with the case, even without a body that could be used as evidence.
