TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Oklahoma State University-Tulsa officials announce the creation of a scholarship to honor former Governor Henry Bellmon.
A $55,000 endowment for the Governor Henry Bellmon/Tulsa Press Club President's Distinguished Scholarship will provide one scholarship each year of about $2,200.
OSU-Tulsa President Gary Trennepohl says the scholarship will go to a student who has scored at least a 27 on the ACT and has maintained at least a 3.0 grade point average.
Bellmon is an Oklahoma State alumnus, having graduated from what then was known as Oklahoma A&M College in 1942.
He served as governor from 1963 to 1967, and returned to office for one term, starting in 1987.
