LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) _ Former Oklahoma State star Robin Ventura is inducted into the inaugural class of the College Baseball Hall of Fame in Lubbock, Texas.
Ventura, who retired in 2004 after 16 years in the major leagues, set a N-C-A-A record with a 58-game hitting streak at O-S-U in 1987.
He was one of five players inducted into the hall last night. Others included former major-league players Dave Winfield of Minnesota, Will Clark of Mississippi State, Bob Horner of Arizona State and Brooks Kieschnick of Texas.
Five coaches also were inducted, led by the late Rod Dedeaux, who guided Southern California to 11 College World Series titles.
Other coaches inducted were Skip Bertman of Louisiana State, Cliff Gustafson of Texas, Ron Fraser of Miami and Bobby Winkles of Arizona State.
