Fireworks Truck Explodes In Independence, Kansas

Kansas authorities say a truck full of fireworks exploded in Independence, Kansas Tuesday afternoon. It happened just after 4 PM.

This picture of the truck that exploded is from Andy Taylor with the Montgomery County Chronicle.

Independence, Kansas Police say the truck was getting ready for the town's big fireworks display Tuesday night when it blew up. Shell casings from the detonated fireworks flew more than 50 yards.

At least one person was badly burned and was flown to a Joplin hospital.

No one knows what sparked the explosion.

Independence, Kansas Police are continuing their investigation.
