WELLING, Okla. (AP) _ A Welling man has died today after his station wagon ran off a Cherokee County road and struck a tree.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Michael H. Davis was killed about 5:15 this morning in a crash about seven miles south of Welling.

The highway patrol says Davis' 1997 Mercury station wagon turned onto its side and the 52-year-old was thrown partially through the driver's side window.

The patrol says Davis was not wearing a seat belt but the car's air bags did deploy.
