OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- An Oklahoma City police dog that was shot in the jaw while chasing a suspect in May will receive a purple heart.
The city's Fraternal Order of Police will award the purple heart to Aron during a ceremony at the FOP lodge.
Aron was shot may 20th, but was still able to chase down the suspect who was arrested. Aron was treated and released at a veterinary hospital.
Police say Aron was shot while he and police were chasing a suspect who apparently shot another man in what may have been a botched drug deal.
