A Tulsa construction crew got quite a surprise working on a gas station near 111th and Riverside. They struck oil!
The crew was digging a hole for gas storage tanks, when they broke open the casing of an old oil well.
About a barrel of oil came to the surface when crews hit the 1,100 foot hole.
State Corporation Commission records show the well was drilled in 1912.
