Tulsa homicide detectives are investigating the shooting death of a 21-year-old woman last week.

She was found inside her ex-boyfriend's home. That ex-boyfriend is a Tulsa Police officer who is on paid administrative leave.

Jennifer Herd was found with a single gunshot wound to her head on May 16th. Family and friends don't believe she was suicidal. They say Officer Stephen Boyes refused to accept their break-up.

She filed a protective order against him in March, but a judge later dismissed it for insufficient evidence.

Officer Boyes tells the News on 6 that he and Jennifer had reconciled. He also says Jennifer called him earlier in the evening, asking for a ride. When he couldn't locate her, he says he went home and found her inside.

He says he tried to save her.
