FAIRFAX, Okla. (AP) -- A Fairfax Republican says she plans to run for a state Senate seat that's soon to be vacated.

Jean Sears says she wants to fill the seat now held by J- Berry Harris, who is prevented from running for another term by the state's term-limits rules.

Sears is 39 years old and graduated from Fairfax High School in 1985 before attending what is now Oklahoma Christian University.

She says she wants to protect the moral heritage of Oklahomans, find better ways to protect children from drugs and sexual predators and help conserve the rural way of life.
