Tulsa's largest employer is making some drastic cuts.
American Airlines' CEO says the nation's largest carrier needs to cut more than $1-billion in expenses. He blames rising fuel costs.
American hopes to offset the cuts with extra revenue. Some of the money would come from more contract maintenance work at Tulsa's facility as well as fees for some in-flight services, curbside check-in and booking flights over the phone.
The rest would come from other cost-cutting measures. Some of which are already in place.
Right now, there's no talk of more wage cuts.
Tulsa's maintenance base has a goal of $500-million in savings and cuts.
