Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor has reinstated Dave Been as the Chief of Police effective next Monday.

Former Mayor Bill LaFortune put Been on paid administrative leave three months ago. Mayor Taylor made the announcement at city hall Friday afternoon. Taylor says she reinstated Dave Been, because â€˜it was in the best interest of the city of Tulsa.â€™ Former Mayor Bill LaFortune says he supports Taylorâ€™s decision.

In addition, Chief Been announced he is planning on retiring in about a year. Mayor Taylor says she will be appointing a committee in the near future to begin the process of selecting a new police chief, once Dave Been retires.
