Some Tulsa kindergarteners run in a marathon

Some Tulsa kids ran the Oklahoma City marathon, without ever leaving Tulsa. Kindergarten students at Kendall Whittier Elementary School ran the final leg of the Oklahoma City Marathon Monday in the park behind their school.

The students have spent their lunch hour for the past month running a few miles at a time. The Oklahoma City marathon was actually this past weekend.

Teacher Wendy Hawkins: "we were unable to take the children to Oklahoma City yesterday morning because of the hour and it happened over the weekend, so we thought we'd have the final event here at school."

Hawkins went to Oklahoma City this past weekend and paid the marathon entry fee for all the students so they could get official t-shirts and numbers.
