Proponents of Tulsa's "third penny sales tax" kicked off their campaign Sunday. Mayor Kathy Taylor, members of the newly elected city council and neighborhood leaders gathered at the Riverparks Aphitheater Sunday afternoon to drum up support for the the third penny sales tax. They hope voters will renew the tax when they head to the polls on May 9th.

Sharon King Davis: "It does all of our capital improvements for our city.. so if this were by any chance not to make it, we would have to delve even further into our city budget to get the things done, progressive things for this city."

The 3rd penny was first passed in 1980. If extended, the $463-million package will continue to help pay for citywide projects for streets and transportation, public safety, parks, neighborhood development and cultural facilities.
