OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- University of Oklahoma President David Boren urged state House Republicans Monday to support a proposed spending increase for higher education.
Boren says it will help to avoid double-digit increases in student tuition.
During a luncheon at the state Capitol Monday, Boren drew a blueprint for how to divide $1-billion in new revenue from economic growth and one-time windfalls.
Boren, who is a former Democratic governor and US senator, also expressed support for Republican programs, including reducing income taxes.
