PONCA CITY, Okla. (AP) _ A volunteer firefighter from Sarge Creek died after authorities believe he fell out of a fire truck and was run over while helping a landowner with a controlled burn in Kay County.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 39-year-old William Lewis Robinson the Third was transported to a Ponca City hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The patrol says Robinson was helping monitor a controlled burn in a pasture east of Ponca City when he fell out of the fire truck, which then ran him over.
The patrol report indicates drinking may have been a factor in the accident.
