OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Oklahoma Gov. Brad Henry strained tendons and fractured a bone in his foot when he stepped off a stage this week during a ceremony observing the 11th anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing, his office announced Friday.

Henry, who gave a speech at the ceremony Wednesday at the Oklahoma City National Memorial, aggravated an old injury when he was coming off the stage, his office said in a written statement.

The injury causes the governor to limp when walking but his foot is not in a cast and Henry is not using crutches, Paul Sund, Henry's communications director, said.

``They gave him a boot that he's been wearing at home,'' Sund said. But Henry wears a normal shoe on the injured foot when he is at his Capitol office or at official functions ``and just toughs it out,'' he said.

``Gov. Henry said he plans to continue his regular duties and does not expect the injury to slow him down at all,'' the governor's statement said. ``Doctors have advised him to avoid any strain on his foot during the recovery period. The healing process is expected to take four to six weeks.''
