OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A Republican plan to place strict limits on the amount of money that can be awarded in lawsuits over pain and suffering and make other changes in lawsuits was resurrected Tuesday in a state House committee.
So-called tort reform is a top priority for Republican House Speaker Todd Hiett but one plan was killed earlier this month by Senate Democrats.
Republican Representative and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Fred Morgan revived the main points of the plan in his committee.
The bill would place a $300,000 so-called ``hard cap'' on pain and suffering awards which often referred to as non-economic damages.
