OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Oklahoma is a step closing to legalizing tattooing.

Oklahoma is currently the only state where tattooing is illegal but the state House of Representatives voted 70-to-28 Monday to legalize the practice.

The state House also amended the bill to forbid anyone under 18 from getting a tattoo in the state and to require a parent consent and be present for anyone under 18 to get a body piercing.

Under the bill tattoo artists and parlors must be licensed by the state and would be regulated and inspected by the state Health Department.

The bill now goes back to the state Senate which must pass the House amendments.
