Alcoa forms aluminum brazing sheet joint venture in China

PITTSBURGH (AP) _ The aluminum producer Alcoa says it has formed a joint venture with a Chinese engraving company to make aluminum brazing sheet in Kunshan City, China, near Shanghai.

Alcoa will be the managing partner in the venture, with an investment of more than 95 (m) million dollars. It will hold a 70 percent stake while the remaining share will be held by Shanxi Yuncheng Engraving Group.

The company says the investment will enable it to supply up to 50-thousand metric tons of aluminum brazing sheet primarily to auto makers in Asia.

It is Alcoa's third flat-rolled production facility in China.

Shanxi Yuncheng Engraving Group is China's top manufacturer of concave printing and embossing version rollers. It has more than 30 factories in China and plants in ten other countries.
