DENVER (AP) _ Thirteen Oklahomans who showed lambs at the National Western Stock Show's junior market lamb show are under investigation after the animals tested positive for a banned substance.
Those who showed the lambs range from 9 to 19-years-old and all have been disqualified.
A total of 18 lambs were found to have a substance that makes them appear more muscular. Among the 13 from Oklahoma are Navajo High School graduate Kashen Urban and Kaylee Turner of Elgin.
Urban and Turner showed black-faced lambs that won grand champion and reserve grand champion awards in the junior division. Urban won 28-thousand dollars and Turner 21-thousand dollars, but neither will receive the money since being disqualified.
The Denver district attorney is investigating and authorities say charges could include conspiracy, cruelty to animals and tampering with livestock.
