BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) _ Indiana University has scheduled a 4:00 PM conference to introduce Kelvin Sampson as its new basketball coach.

Former Indiana trustee Stephen Backer told The Associated Press that Sampson was headed to Bloomington early this afternoon.

Sampson told his former players about the change yesterday, the same day Hoosiers players also learned of the pending move.

The 50-year-old Sampson replaces Mike Davis, who went 115-79 in six seasons as head coach.

Sampson leaves Oklahoma amid an investigation for possible recruiting violations.

The NCAA is looking into more than 550 phone calls to recruits by Sampson and his assistant coaches.
