Flags across Oklahoma will be at half staff Thursday in honor of 32-year-old volunteer firefighter Destry Horton.

Horton died last Friday of burns suffered on March first while fighting a wildfire near Duncan.

Horton's fellow firefighters, friends from the police force, and the Chickasha baseball team held a fundraiser to provide money for Horton's family. The group gathered five $5,000.

Funeral services are Thursday afternoon in Chickasha with both Governor Henry and Lieutenant Governor Mary Fallin planning to attend.

Meanwhile, the governer has reinstated the burn ban with some new rules. The previous burn ban was statewide; now 10 southeastern Oklahoma counties are exempt.

And Oklahomans can still use their gas and charcoal grills, as long as the use them on a 10-foot by 10-foot, non-flammable surface, like a driveway.
