An emergency bill just signed by Governor Brad Henry means more than $100-million to fix dangerous bridges across the state.
That money will be used to fix or replace bridges on state highways that can't handle heavy vehicles. Another $25-million will be used for county bridges.
One of the likely projects is the Childers Creek Bridge on Highway 75A near Kiefer. Kiefer resident Rodney Wilmott: "It needs fixed, it is old and we can't take fire trucks across it. If we have something out that way, we have to go around."
Another bridge that could be repaired with the emergency money is the Dog Creek Bridge on Highway 88 near Claremore.
The state says the money will pay for 30 to 35 bridge projects statewide.
