OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Teenagers with learner's permits couldn't use cell phones while driving under a bill passed in the state Senate.
Author Clark Jolly of Edmond referred to studies showing a high rate of accidents associated with teenagers using cell phones. He says new drivers don't need to take additional risks while making cell phone calls.
His bill still would allow teens to use phones equipped with handsfree headsets.
The measure now heads to the state House.
