OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ State child care workers say Oklahoma's lack of licensed child care facilities is a growing problem in the state and is heavily affecting growing cities like Ada.
Officials from East Central University's child care referral agency say Ada has lost 58 child-care slots since July 2005, leaving one licensed slot for every three children.
Officials say Ada has only one licensed child-care provider to care for children after 5 PM, despite more businesses bringing nontraditional shifts to the community.
Officials say the Panhandle has the fewest child-care slots per child in the state.
