New Trustees Named At ORU

Oral Roberts University's Board of Regents has borne some of the blame for the school's recent trouble. That is part of the reason Mart Green is scrapping the board and starting from scratch. The News On 6's Joshua Brakhage reports the new Oral Roberts University Board of Trustees is like having a new sheriff in town, and Mart Green wears the badge.

The millionaire bookstore owner will chair the board which will oversee the university and how his $62-million gift is spent. His deputies include several authors.

Hal Donaldson has written dozens of books and publishes one of the largest Pentecostal magazines in the world.

Prolific Christian author Stanley Burgess teaches at Pat Robertson's Regent University.

Charles McKinney is one of several new trustees with decades of experience in university administration.

Don Argue is chancellor of a Christian university near Seattle, and previously served as a university president.

Russell Spittler is a Pentecostal leader who is a professor and administrator at a California Bible college.

Born to missionaries in Lebanon, Rob Hoskins now leads a missionary organization aimed at converting children.

And, R. Lamar Vest served a leader of the Church of God and is an executive with the American Bible Society.

Billy Wilson crusades for Church unity. His organization tries to bridge gaps between Christian denominations.

Three ORU alums sit on the new board, including Lynette Lewis, a PR guru and sought-after motivational speaker. Ron Luce is most noted for leading "Acquire the Fire" youth rallies. Freddy Boswell runs an international Bible translation institute.

Of course, there is a spot at the table reserved Oral Roberts. He'll serve as trustee for life at the university which bears his name.

The board will begin with these 13 trustees. Nine more members will be added over the next year to bring the total to 22.
