6 medium apples, cored, cut into eighths 6 T. butter 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 C. packed brown sugar 1/4 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. cinnamon (more to taste) Whipped cream for garnish Chopped nuts for garnish (your favorite)
Directions:
Melt the butter in a heavy skillet with a tight-fitting lid, and add the apples. Cover and cook over low heat 5 minutes, or until the apples soften slightly. Sprinkle with vanilla, brown sugar, salt and cinnamon. Cook, uncovered, 15-20 minutes longer.
Serve warm with whipped cream. Sprinkle with chopped nuts, if desired.
