A woman is recovering after a stray bullet from a drive-by shooting struck her in the head.
She said the bullet tore through her bedroom wall around 3 a.m. Sunday.
The shooting happened near Northeast 31st Street and Lindsay Avenue.
Police said two cars were shooting at each other when a bullet went through one home, striking Reanea Timmons inside.
Timmons was asleep in her bedroom when the shots woke her.
“I got up to try and see what was going on and before I could move the bullet went in the back of my head here,” Timmons said.
Timmons was taken to the hospital and released.
She said Sunday was the second time a bullet went into her home in the past few years.
Her daughter, Ann Durham, said she worries about her mother’s safety.
“Well it's scary because me (sic) walking around in our home right now because I don't know when a bullet may come through the house,” Durham said. “I don't know who's going to come up and do the shooting.”
Authorities are unsure why the two vehicles were firing at each other.
Ann said she hopes police will start patrolling the area more frequently.
“The fact that my mother is going through this situation, and I feel like, if something is being done about it, I feel like the police needs to do it,” Durham said.
After almost 50 years of living in the home, Timmons said the violence is getting worse.
This is still an ongoing investigation.
