A spokesperson with the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon said Saturday the race has been postponed until October 4th.
The delay comes less than 24 hours after the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Oklahoma County.
“It was a collective decision and it was a hard decision for us to make,” Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum Executive Director Kari Watkins said.
Health officials said the new case is a woman in her 60s who recently traveled to Florida.
The woman is isolated in her home.
An investigation is underway to determine who and how many with whom she may have had physical contact.
There are now four confirmed COVID-19 cases in Oklahoma, with one in recovery.
Officials said Friday the state has received 500 more test kits to be able to test those at risk.
There are 37 tests pending results in Oklahoma.
