A metro dispensary owner was gunned down on Saturday in a driveway at a home near Northeast 36th and Westminster Road. Oklahoma City police need the public’s help to solve the case.
Police said on Monday there could be more than one suspect involved in the deadly shooting of 39-year-old Fredrick Okine. The home where he was gunned down was secured while investigators looked for evidence.
“Upon arrival officers located a victim that was deceased in the front seat of a car,” said Sgt. Brad Gilmore with the Oklahoma City Police Department. “From apparent gunshot wounds.”
The car was parked in the driveway when witnesses said another car pulled up and shots were fired. Police learned Okine did not live at the home, however, they are looking into why he was there.
Neighbors were reluctant to talk to News 9 on-camera knowing the suspects have not been caught.
“At this time no arrests have been made,” said Gilmore. “The investigation is still early and it’s ongoing at this point.”
Investigators do know Okine and his wife owned the Urban Wellness Dispensary on Northeast 23rd Street. No one at the store wanted to comment about the tragic passing of one of the owners.
Police do not know if Okine was targeted because of the medical marijuana business or if there was another motive. They need the public to come forward with tips.
“If anybody has any information,” said Gilmore. “Call the homicide tip hotline.”
Police have not released any descriptions of the suspects.
