Governor Stitt Says State's PPE Stockpile Getting Help From Federal Government

Governor Kevin Stitt said Oklahoma is expecting a restock on personal protective equipment (PPE) from the federal government.

The Governor posted a video of his visit to the location where the state's stockpile of PPE equipment is held.

He said right now, hospitals across the state have an 11 day supply.

News 9 talked to nurses and doctors in Oklahoma. They said the shortage has already started. Some said they're only receiving one mask to use per day. Others said they had to reuse protective equipment for much longer.

In the description of the Facebook video the governor posted, he said the state is getting more PPE supplies from the federal government through the Strategic National Stockpile.

He also said Oklahoma is expecting more big shipments.

"So it's great that we have this in," said Governor Stitt standing in front of the stockpile. "11 o'clock tonight we will be getting our final shipment in from the federal government from our allotment here in the state."

Gov. Stitt said that they will start giving the stockpile out when hospitals start running low.

The governor said he has a team that's working around the clock every day to get supplies for the state.
