Here’s everything you need to know about these amazing golf courses!

1. Augusta National Golf Club

Augusta National Golf Club: located in Augusta, GA.

What makes this golf course so unique is that it’s always changing. The reason why there are consistent changes is that the course has to keep things competitive for the Masters’ Tournament.

The Masters’ Tournament is an annual event that’s held at the Augusta National Golf Club. New designs, mounds, and tree planting take place each year. The golf course is filled with plenty of short shots, which makes the course challenging and a lot of fun to play on!

2. Shinnecock Hills Golf Club

Shinnecock Hills Golf Club: located in Southhampton, NY.

Pro golfers and amateurs of all ages will both be challenged while playing on this course, so be sure to check out some of the best golf clubs for seniors and younger golfers before heading out!

The majority of the architecture of this course hasn’t been changed in over 50 years.

When playing on this course, you can feel the history. Many trees, however, have been removed from the course, which allows the wind to play a role in the game! You’ll constantly need to factor in the wind and how you’ll need to work the ball with it or against it.

To play a good game on this course, you’ll need to putt well even on the 4 and 5 footers.

3. Pebble Beach Golf Links Course

Pebble Beach Golf Links Course: located in Pebble Beach, CA.

This golf course is located on top of a 75-foot high bluff. While playing, you’re fully surrounded by the ocean.

Because of the amazing scenery here, you’re sure to have a great golf game no matter your score. There have also been some recent renovations to the course, especially on the 14th green. This golf course is always looking for ways to improve and visiting the course is an adventure of its own!

4. Fishers Island Club

Fishers Island Club: located in Fishers Island, NY.

Fishers Island Club is yet another wonderful golf course to play on while being surrounded by water. You’re completely surrounded by the beauty of nature, and even the paths for the golf carts are made of pebbles.

Some greens are harder to read as they appear to be flat, making for a challenge. Because the course is located on an island, many of the holes’ designs have the ocean incorporated into them! The quality of the holes, especially 2-12, is astounding, and there are many steep bunkers as well.

5. Crystal Downs Country Club

Crystal Downs Country Club: located in Frankfort, MI.

This golf course is short, but that doesn’t mean it’s any less challenging. As you putt your way through the green, you’ll be faced with zigzag fairways that take you along the course.

The putting surfaces are a bit steep, which makes for a slower speed than other courses, but the old-fashioned surfaces are what make Crystal Downs Country Club what it is. It’s a short stretch of green, but it’s one of the most challenging courses you’ll face, all while being embraced by the waters around you.

6. Pacific Dunes

Pacific Dunes: located in Bandon, OR.

This golf course is just one out of the many Bandon Trails courses. It’s also considered to be the easiest course out of the bunch.

Due to it’s putting ease, this course doesn’t host major championships, but it’s a wonderful place for beginner golfers and pros who’d like a relaxing, non-competitive golfing day. The dunes are neighbors to the beautiful beach right below them, so it makes for an aesthetically-pleasing course as well!

7. Sand Hills Golf Club

Sand Hills Golf Club: located in Mullen, NE.

The bunkers on this course aren’t man-made. Before this area of land became a golf course, the designers walked around and designed the course as nature intended. Pre-existing dunes are used as the bunkers on the course and no earth had to be moved to create it!

Although there haven’t been any championships hosted here, the course is stunning and a great way to play golf on nature’s own design!

8. The Country Club

The Country Club: located in Chestnut, MA.

This 18-hole golf course was once the host of the 1963 and 1988 U.S. Opens. Since then, however, there have been some renovations made. Trees have been removed, and there’s now exposed rock that adds to the scenery.

The bunkers are rugged and the greens are small. This course is quite a challenge ever since these changes were made!

9. Whistling Straits Course

The Whistling Straits Course: located in Haven, WI.

This course is surrounded by water and was once an abandoned army base. The abandoned base, along with two miles of Lake Michigan, come together to form the Whistling Straits.

This course has more than 1,000 bunkers and offers several different challenges even for professional golfers!

10. The Ocean Course

The Ocean Course: located in Kiawah Island, SC.

This man-made course is surrounded by water but also has many lagoons inside the course as well. The greens were made at a height so that golfers can enjoy views of the ocean while they play.

Don’t let this distract you too much, though, because the tricky slopes and high winds are nothing to ignore. It’s one of the more difficult courses to play on, but it’s worth the visit!
