One El Reno couple didn't let COVID-19 stop their wedding plans and got married using their phones.
The Hurst's are one of the many couples around the country getting married over an app called Zoom. The couple said the date of their wedding was just too important too postpone.
"Our hearts were just connected," said Anna Hurst.
That's how she described falling in love with Rustin, but their love story isn't typical starting with how they met.
"That's Morris and Ruth Hurst," said Rustin holding up a picture of his grandparents. The pair were inseparable for 76 years and even in their final days.
"Him and my grandmother crossed over and left the earth this last July," said Rustin.
Anna works for hospice and at that time happened to be taking care of Rustin's grandparents. Morris kind of planted hints while Anna took care of the pair.
"He said are you married, and I said no I'm not married and he said well you're going to make some man very happy." said Rustin. "Little did I know it was going to be his grandson."
When it came to the couple's wedding date they picked April 5, what would have been Morris' 99th birthday. The pair never predicted a pandemic would put their big day at risk.
Originally the couple was going to have their pastor and at least their parents at the ceremony, but then they realized even that wasn't possible.
"Obviously the date was really important to us, so we didn't want to miss that," said Rustin.
So they did the next best thing, a Zoom call with their family, who recorded the ceremony through the app.
Days after the ceremony, the couple is hoping their story gives people some hope
"We still believe in the future it's still there you know nothing's going to stop us," said Rustin.
Next year the couple plans to have a big celebration with family and friends and remember the vows they shared just days ago.
