Tulsa Fire Chief Michael Baker announced that the Tulsa Fire Department had to temporarily close Fire Station 24 at 3600 N Peoria on Tuesday after a firefighter became symptomatic with COVID-19.

Chief Baker said that the members of that station had been exposed to COVID-19 from Jun 20 to June 23.

"Since that point, the fire station has been cleaned and disinfected wholly. Firefighters are back into the station today, on a callback basis and we have begun the testing process this morning of approximately 36 firefighters that are on quarantine until we get test results back," said Baker.

The Fire Department says they believe the firefighter caught the virus from a source outside of the job and not while responding to a fire.
