The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating what caused two pickup trucks to collide along U.S. Highway 270 resulting in one fatality on Sunday afternoon.
The accident happened just before 1 p.m. approximately four miles west of McAlester when a Chevrolet truck collided with a Dodge truck.
The driver of the Chevrolet truck, identified as 70-year-old Loyd Sales, was pronounced dead at the scene by McAlester Fire Department EMS. The lone passenger was transferred to St. Francis Hospital in stable condition.
The driver of the Dodge truck, along with four passengers, were all treated and released from the McAlester Regional Health Center.
