Tahlequah Public Schools announced that they will delay the start of school for students until Thursday, August 27.
In a statement sent to parents, Tahlequah schools said the delay would give them time to better prepare staff for the challenges of education in COVID-19.
Noting that teachers contractually report on Monday, August 10, Tahlequah schools said, “We feel that 3 days is not enough to prepare them for the giant task in front of them. We are also experiencing delays in receiving needed technology, PPE and other required essentials to open our school safely.”
Officials said they will provide an updated calendar once approved by the Board of Education.
