UPDATE: Tulsa Police said the woman is in custody after the standoff ended peacefully.
Tulsa Police were involved Monday night in a standoff at 41st Street and Garnett. They said the situation started as a traffic stop and a woman pulled out a gun. When officers asked, she refused to put away the weapon.
The woman was behind a McDonald’s where police were stationed, holding their positions. Police were negotiating with the woman for several hours and arrested her with no injuries to officers or bystanders.
"The fact that it ended peacefully and nobody was hurt or injured, that's what we trained for, our deescalation techniques, our crisis intervention training, things we train for," said Tulsa Police Officer Jeanne Pierce.
Parts of Garnett were blocked off during the standoff. The nearby McDonald’s and surrounding area was evacuated.
Police said she has a felony warrant for drugs and will likely face more charges as the investigation continues.
