U.S. Attorney Trent Shores and several local leaders will announce a new initiative to keep guns out of the hands of felons following the shooting of two Tulsa police officers.

It is called the 2150 initiative in honor of fallen Tulsa police Sargent Craig Johnson.

The focus of the 2150 Initiative is to limit gun violence and bring more accountability to people who shouldn’t have guns, including felons.

The measure will be announced Tuesday afternoon in a joint press conference that includes U.S. Attorney Trent Shores, Tulsa Mayor G-T Bynum and Tulsa Police Chief Wendell Franklin.

The initiative is named in memory of Sargent Johnson, who was killed in the line of duty in June during a traffic stop.

Officer Ahrash Zarkeshan was also shot during this stop and is still recovering.
