Neighbors say they felt something like an earthquake.
Sadly, this explosion killed 14-year-old Berklee Maguire, the rest of the Maguire family is recovering in the hospital.
Neighbors are honoring a request from the mother, Tanda, to help salvage anything important.
"I finally told my wife; we have got to go somewhere and do something. Because we’ve known them ever since we’ve been here," said family friend Jeff Robinson. "This was the best thing to do with our time. That’s right, we all have families, and it could have been either one of us."
The agency leading this investigation says it may have been caused by fireplace log lighter that did not have an automatic safety pilot light shutoff. Those are illegal in homes with propane. Investigators are looking to see if it was installed before the family moved in.
An online fundraiser for the Maguire family has raised more than $80 thousand, the goal is $150 thousand.
